Once you have completed steps #1-4, it is time to start production!
Ms. Smith will send students who are ready to record out of the room during class. You are also welcome and encouraged to record your audio at home. This will give you more time in-class for editing and creativity.
- Most laptops have built in microphones and some cell phones can take and transfer audio recordings. PLEASE make sure you check/test your phone with Ms. Smith before you record your audio to make sure it will transfer to school computers. (This means you may have your phone with you in class)
Your goal is to record and then edit your audio clip into a radio commercial. When you're finished recording, we will use iMovie or GarageBand to create the podcast. If there is a pod-casting/audio-editing software you are more comfortable using, please speak with Ms. Smith. Your finished commercial is due a week from the production day but you will not have any more full-class periods to work.
Manage your time responsibly, please!
When you edit, make sure that you think about the music, jingles and sound effects you choose. They need to make sense with the food you've chosen and the message you're conveying. Use the radio commercials links from step #4 if you need inspiration or you want to copy some of the music or sound effects. Please, check with Ms. Smith if you think 'borrowing' a jingle from one of the commercial might be appropriate for your own commercial first. To hear Ms. Smith's finished commercial click here.
iLife software has a ton of music clips and sound effects to help you get started. Ms. Smith will help you during lab time if there are more sounds you need. If there is a specific song you are looking for that you have on your iPod etc. let Ms. Smith know ASAP so she can help you transfer it onto the school computer.
